Trudy's Bowl for Kids 2012

Trudy’s Bowl for Kids raises more than $150,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters

More than 700 participants, 200 companies and 150 teams strapped on their bowling shoes the weekend of March 2 - 4 to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters. The event raised more than $150,000! Funds raised go directly towards matching Central Texas children with caring, committed mentors. This year’s theme, “Viva Las Vegas,” celebrated Austinites’ fun nature and had many participants donning their favorite glitzy attire.

Many participants took part in special industry bowls targeted at those who work in a certain field or for a specific organization. Teams representing the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry and the American Society of Civil Engineers showed up in full force as well as teams from the banking, gamers and designers, and media industries. Other industry teams included Google and Hoovers. There were also several teams created by Bigs who serve as mentors in the BBBS program.

Highland Lanes hosted the event over the course of the weekend. To participate in Trudy's Bowl for Kids, teams of up to five members raise at least $625 per team in pledges. The teams then participate in bowling parties which include food, beverages, and prizes.
