Since its inception, the Ice Ball has raised more than $400,000 which has enabled BBBS to provide life-changing mentoring relationships for hundreds of kids in Central Texas.

About Last Year's Ice Ball
On Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, on a day that saw temperatures reach 106 degrees, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas transformed the downtown Hilton into a winter wonderland for the annual Ice Ball gala. The event stayed true to its theme as the "Coolest Place to be this August" when more than 500 guests crowded into the main ballroom which featured towering ice sculptures, signature drinks known as icy MojiTEAs and gourmet cuisine from 10 of the coolest local restaurants, including a VIP reception hosted by Finn & Porter.
The event raised $200,000 which will provide the agency twice as much support as it did last year. Guests jumped at the opportunity to bid on live auction vacations from Cabo to Breckenridge, exotic hunting trips and one-of-a-kind packages to the McDonald Observatory. The Fund A Friendship portion of the program also proved popular as 125 guests raised their bid numbers to donate money to directly fund the matches that BBBS creates and supports. Funds raised help the agency pair more children with supportive adult mentors.
