Military Mentoring: Operation Bigs

Military Mentoring: Operation Bigs

Children with a parent in the military face unique challenges that may include separation and loss in addition to the stresses of military life. To help provide the additional support these children need, Big Brothers Big Sisters has established the Military Mentoring Program. It joins children of parents in the military with caring adult mentors. This program has recently been given significant support through the Federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. This funding enables Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas to serve children ages 9‐16 who have an active duty military parent.

We are now enrolling children, ages 9-16, to be a part of this program. Call 512-472-5437 or click below to get started.

Role models make an impact

National and local studies show that children who have role models are more likely to improve in school and in their relationships with family and friends, and less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs or alcohol. Students who are successful in school are less likely to drop out, abuse drugs or commit crimes. In fact, the success of children enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters was proven in a nationwide randomized study.
