Trudy’s Bowl for Kids was totally radical!

It was totally radical, dude. More than 700 bowlers descended upon Highland Lanes this weekend for  Trudy’s Bowl for Kids – and they raised a record-breaking $180,000!devo

This year’s theme was “Flashback: 1983” which meant tons of ’80s-inspired outfits with shoulder pads, big hair and LOTS of neon. It also marked the 30th anniversary of Bowl for Kids (BFK) right here in Austin.

A good time was had by all, and my favorite groups included the GSC Architects Devo team, the Certain Affinity “Hulk Hogan” squad and the BBBS Breakfast Club. (And of course, you can’t have an ‘80s party without  Pac Man outfits…)

Some other fun highlights included the Jack Burger truck coming by to feed our bowlers; meeting a woman who has been bowling for kids for 15 years; and seeing the Fox team rock Footloose.

We were also excited to see a lot of Very Important Bowlers in the house (VIBs). These folks went above and beyond, raising more than $1,250 per team. They enjoyed donated treats from Edible Arrangements, a free photobooth courtesy of My Event is the Bomb and two buckets of beverages.

At the end of the weekend, all these gnarly dudes and dudettes made BFK tons of fun and, most importantly, they made a BIG difference to our kids. Huge thanks to everyone who bowled, sponsored, volunteered and helped make BFK possible. You’re changing lives and we love that you have fun doing it. See you at Trudy’s BFK 2014 (February 28 – March 2, 2014)!
