Enchiladas, Impact, and a Gift: Chuy’s South Austin Opens with Heart

When a new restaurant opens with enchiladas, creamy jalapeño dip, and a $3,775 donation to youth mentorship—you know it’s going to be a good day. Last week, our Development team joined the ribbon cutting at the brand-new Chuy’s in South Austin to celebrate a gift that goes far beyond dollars. The event, which also welcomed representatives from the Austin Chamber of Commerce, was a reminder of what makes our community strong: connection, generosity, and a shared belief in the power of potential.

As part of their Friends and Family soft opening in April, Chuy’s selected Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas as their nonprofit partner. Their support helps make something powerful possible—a mentoring relationship that can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.

At BBBSCTX, we create intentional, one-to-one matches between youth and caring adult mentors. Each match is backed by hours of training, screenings, interviews, and professional support—because we know that consistent, committed mentorship creates lasting impact.

And we have the data to prove it:
81% of youth in our program say their Big made them feel like they mattered.

That feeling of being seen, heard, and supported? It makes all the difference. Chuy’s gift of $3,775 directly fuels this work—helping us create new matches, support existing ones, and ensure that more Central Texas youth have someone in their corner.

To our friends at Chuy’s: thank you for choosing to invest in your community by investing in its young people. We’re honored to be part of your South Austin story—and we’ll definitely be back for the enchiladas.
