Giving Thanks

“We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference
in our lives.” – John F. Kennedy

Greetings,
One of our families recently shared the following with us:

“Brandon has been my son’s Big for over three years and has become a part of the family. During the recent floods, Brandon picked my son up from a flood shelter when neither I, nor his school, could get him home. Brandon kept my son safe until the water receded and I could come get him.

The next day, Brandon brought us candles and phone chargers because our power was still out and our phones had gone dead. This was a huge help because family was trying to call and check on us, and our only source of news was our phones. I am so very thankful for Brandon, and everything BBBS has done for my child and countless other children. I know my son will make a great Big one day.”

Big Brandon Barber and Connor Hill_2950 smAs this Thanksgiving season begins, I’d like to stop and thank each of you for the difference you’re making in lives all across our community. BBBS is approaching 45 years of service in the Central Texas area, now reaching nearly 1,000 mentoring matches as we work to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. It all happens because of the support of friends like you.

We are so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of your life and the lives of the children we serve. In the next several weeks we will be sharing more inspiring stories with you as we focus on giving that makes a lifetime of difference. Please watch for them in your inbox and on our blog, and share them with your friends and family.
