Our 2021 Match Holiday Party

A large, festive crowd attended Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Match Holiday Party on December 12th! Almost 400 Bigs, Littles, and their families gathered at BBBS’ Bennett-Rathgeber Mentoring Center for this marquee party set to ring in the holiday season.

Attendees sported Santa hats, ugly sweaters, reindeer antlers, and one even had a Christmas tree cape. Everyone got into the spirit of the gathering as they enjoyed gifts, hot chocolate, a photo booth, and fellowship.

“What a terrific party and celebration,” said Dr. Leah Newkirk Meunier, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas’ CEO. “We love having the opportunity to bring our matches and families together and celebrating our powerful partnership at such a special time of the year.”

Every child in attendance was able to select a gift from an amazing assortment of donated games and toys, plus each had the opportunity to get a backpack filled with school supplies, a gift card, and a new book.

Everyone was excited about the party, with many attendees arriving and waiting over 30 minutes early for the event that was titled, “Winter Wonderland.” Guests moved through the building’s decorated lobby and conference room to make gift selections and they were able to enjoy the outdoor patio area for photos and snacks. This gave everyone the option to maintain additional social distance if they preferred.

“Thanks to the generosity of numerous supporters we’re able to provide gifts, activities and an amazing experience to kick off the holidays for our families,” said Joe Strychalski, VP of Programs at BBBS. “It’s just so cool to see our matches building their relationships, connecting with BBBS staff, and having a great time at this event. We’re so grateful to everyone who helps make this possible!”

We want to give a special thank you to the following groups and individuals who donated gifts and assisted with the event: AECOM, Alpha Phi Alpha, BBBS Big Impact Group, Comcast, NSBE AP, RSM, US Micro Products, Whole Body Health, Keith Hardy with Sculpt Physique Fitness, and Sean Haines and the 100% Skateboarder Sk8 Club, as well as BBBS staff.

This annual event is such a fun way to create memories, enjoy some holiday cheer, and spend quality time together. What a great way to close out our 50th anniversary year. We look forward to being together again soon!
