The Boys of Summer

Big Brother Jake is always looking for opportunities to share new experiences with his Little Brother, Andre. In June, not only did he take Andre to his very first baseball game, thanks to UMPS CARE Charities and Round Rock Express, Jake made sure it was done in style!

Through the UMPS CARE Charities’ Blue Crew Ticket Program, Jake and Andre received free tickets for great seats at Saturday’s Round Rock Express game, a goody bag full of all things baseball, and a photo- op on the playing field!

But the fun didn’t stop there…. they also explored the dugout and locker room, tried on baseball gear, visited with professional umpires and checked out what the inside of a baseball looks like! The umpires joined in with enthusiasm, showing Andre games they played with baseballs when they were young and teaching him the card tricks they practice during long road trips with the team.

They also helped Andre gain a broader understanding of the game, and appreciated his simple, yet profound, conclusion: “So, you win by having the most people go Home!”
