Serving Those Who Serve – Our Program for Military Families
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas is committed to giving back to our nation’s veterans and their families. While veterans are notably resourceful and self-reliant, there are times when even America’s finest can use some extra help.
BBBS’ ‘Military Mentoring’ program exists to support military families and their children by offering caring, adult mentors to address the unique needs of children of veterans and active-duty military personnel. For example, a Big Brother or Sister can serve as an additional resource, role model and source of stability for a child when his or her family member is away from home due to trainings, deployments, duty assignments or field exercises.
Although we actively recruit veterans to volunteer as Big Brothers and Sisters, non-veterans are also encouraged to apply and participate..
