More Than a Gift: The Power of Presence

So far in 2022, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas has made more than 170 new matches and supported more than 758 Littles and their Bigs. Our Big Futures program continues to grow with more than 122 matches now choosing to continue their professionally supported relationships after high school.

The average length of our matches has also grown to more than 3 years, and we know that longer matches create stronger matches. This is a fact one of our Bigs has learned first-hand, as his short-term expectations have turned into a life-long relationship.

Zach & Kyriakos

When Zach became a Big in 2016, he thought his match with Little Brother Kyriakos would last just a few years. Six years later, their relationship has deepened into a friendship that will last the rest of their lives. As Zach has discovered, it’s all about being present, and showing up, in the life of a child.
